John Hemming stands for Yardley June 8th

Following the surprise announcement of a General Election on June 8th, I am pleased to announce that I will be the Liberal Democrat candidate for Yardley. I have decided to stand after many local residents called and emailed encouraging me to do so. Also all 7 of your Liberal Democrat councillors agree with the residents who have contacted me and are enthusiastically supporting my campaign. Since 2015 residents have regularly expressed to me their disappointment with the present Labour MP. Many local people believe she has not kept her promise to work solely as your Member of Parliament. Indeed her regular appearances on TV comedy shows and promotional tours selling her book have taken up time she could have spent supporting residents. Local people are also fearful for the country’s future if a Labour victory puts Jeremy Corbyn into number 10. Acocks Green residents want their bins emptied Below, John joins Councillor Roger Harmer to discuss the poor refuse collection the Labour Council is providing to tax payers. Every week Roger insists bin crews call back on dozens of missed collections. “Residents are angry at Labour’s failure to run this vital service” said John Hemming.	Lib Dems protect parks for South Yardley people Residents asked Councillor Zaker Choudhry to stop quad bikes accessing local parks. Above Zaker is showing John the improved security installed in Brindle Close off Clay Lane. “I hope this reduces the anti-social behaviour suffered by residents”, said John.
Save our grass verges call from Stechford & Yardley John joined Neil Eustace & Carol Jones to see the damage caused to grass verges. Last year Neil persuaded the Council to investigate the problem. Following a scrutiny report, the Council has now agreed to invest £1 million in grass verge protection. “Another Lib Dem success,” commented John.	Hundreds of poor quality homes replaced in Sheldon Councillor Paul Tilsley was delighted to show John the progress being made improving housing provision locally. Over recent years, hundreds of new homes have replaced damp, unpopular flats. “This is a major success for local people and Sheldon” said John Hemming.
